The river banks were in poor shape. This was a result of years of soil erosion which in some cases was exposing the tree roots. The sand being eroded was posing a serious threat to the downstream dams causing them to close up. Our Dam 2 South had already totally disappeared and Dam 2 North was about to disappear. The one section of the river bank erosion was so serious that if left unattended it would have posed a threat to the Lifestyle Centre car-park in years to come. The solution was to rebuild the affected section with Gabions.
This work was done in the winter of 2019 when the river flow was minimal.
