Note that during the Covid lockdown period, meal options may change based on lockdown requirements. Any changes are communicated to residents by way of internal newsletters, as and when the changes are implemented.

The appointed Catering Service Provider is Gourmet Guru under the management/ownership of Nikki Ennis. The Catering Service Provider also provides all meals to the Frail and Midcare facilities.

The Catering Service Provider offers a wide variety of services as detailed below.

Included in the monthly levy statement is an item shown as “Kitchen Levy”. This is a fixed amount that every owner pays monthly and is designed to ensure a fixed monthly income for ensuring the sustainability of this operation. In return for this monthly fee, you are able to select meals up to the value of this monthly fee, loosely known as a “levy” meal. This is a compulsory fee irrespective of whether you use the “levy” meals or not. We do have some residents who choose not to take any meals from the dining room. We encourage those residents to “donate” their meals. The Village General Manager is usually aware of residents who have financial constraints and will ensure that such donated meals are made available to deserving recipients.

The Village operates an electronic booking system that is available 24/7. This is a touchscreen computer located next to the Library in the Lifestyle Centre. This is sometimes referred to as the “Plankomat” system. Every unit is issued with an electronic “Tag” that allows you access to the system. First time users will be given instructions on how to use this system by one of the dining room staff. An important function of this system is the ability to load additional funds that automatically get used once the initial “levy” meals have been ordered.  The additional funds can be loaded via credit or debit card in the dining room.

There are some residents who have family members who handle their finances. In this situation these family members can arrange the payment of this top-up amount by way of EFT directly with the Catering Service Provider. It is also possible for such family members to arrange the booking of meals via this email service. See below for contact details.

For residents who are away for an extended period, a carry over of a maximum of 1 months “Levy” meals will be allowed. This must be arranged with the Catering Service Provider in advance of your absence.

Meal booking must be made no later than 24 hours before the meal being booked.

Note that on Saturdays there is no lunch served. This is replaced by a brunch from 10:00 – 12-00. There is no delivery or take away service for brunches.

Every Tuesday there is a “Fine Dining” meal service in the Dining room. This is a 3 course meal served in a cosy, restaurant type environment. Bring your own drinks. The meal is served between 18:00 and 19:00. Many people stay on and socialise till much later. The cost of this meal varies from week to week based on the meal being served. Details appear in the monthly menu.

On the 2nd Friday of every month at 18:00 there is a complimentary meal. Meal details appear in the monthly menu. This is a very popular event designed to bring residents together for a social evening. Bring your own drinks and join fellow residents for a simple complimentary meal that was prepared by our Catering Service Provider and served, buffet style, by volunteer residents. This event is open to residents only and no delivery or take-aways are available. Although this meal is complimentary – booking is essential on the electronic booking system.

On the 3rd Friday of every month at 18:00 there is a pub-grub service. Meal details appear in the monthly menu.

In addition to the above there is an “a la carte” snack menu that is available in the dining room/deck. This operates from Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 to 15:00. A wide variety of item are available. Note that there are some restrictions on placing orders between 11:00 and 14:00 due to staff being occupied with lunchtime preparation and servings. Should you wish to have a snack delivered during this time you need to place the order before 11:00. No booking is required.

There is a free tea and coffee “help yourself” service from 08:00 to 15:00. Note that this is strictly for consumption in the dining room and deck.  A selection of confectionery is available to purchase during this time.

A selection of frozen meals is available to purchase from the dining room for warming and consumption in your unit. Inquire in the dining room for price and availability.

The Catering Service Provider can also cater for any special functions, ranging from snack platters to full meals. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required.
