These photographs cover the rebuilding of our original pedestrian bridge as inherited from the Village Developer. It was particularly poorly built and was deteriorating rapidly.
This work was done in November 2017.

- The old pedestrian bridge was rustic and from a distance was rather attractive.
- But if you look carefully it was sagging in the middle.
- The structure was splitting badly.
- With some screws pulling out.
- This was the main span supporting beam.
- The supporting post into the river bank.
- Which was crumbling away due to flood damage.
- On the Western side of the river the gabions were washing away due to a stormwater pipe eroding the foundation.
- The walking surface required annual maintenance.
- Which did not stop the walking surface suffering from bad weathering.
- Leaving gaps that were a trap for wheelchair wheels.
- We dismantled the entire bridge and constructed flood-proof foundations at the West end of the bridge.
- These concrete pillars go down to bedrock.
- We totally rebuilt the East foundations.
- We replaced the gumpole structure with structural steel beams.
- With a galvanised steel lattice framework on top.
- And finally a composite wood surface.
- That is slip-proof when wet.
- We added some lights.
- The finished product.
